GREY FACED DARTMOOR
RBST : Minority 1500-3000
The Grey Faced Dartmoor were historically bred up on Dartmoor to graze the lower parts of the Moor and to cope with the harsh weather conditions, they are therefore a very hardy breed.
The Grey Faced is a heavy medium size sheep they are covered entirely with fleece except the face; all white except for their black nose. They are defined as a Lustre Longwool breed with heavy layers of wavy locks of hard wearing fleece.
Both the Ewes and the Rams are hornless and they do not shed their fleece so will require shearing once a year and dagging (removing the areas around the bottom) prior to lambing to keep them clean.
They are a friendly sheep and very easy to bucket train.
